Windshield Pilkington or OEM Mazda
for Hondas and Acuras that need recalibration with the ADAS camera systems, It’s best to use PILKINGTON. It seems to have a lower Failure rate.
There are differences, as you found, in the manufacturer, but VW uses different glass manufacturers in different parts of the world. I, myself, have the roof, front & rear windshield made by Pilkington, and the side windows are from Saint Gobain.
If you go with aftermarket at a place like Safelite, make sure to get the Pilkington brand if you have a HUD
Pilkington glass has never let me down, except their distribution centers. A bit of the best and the worst bundled into one name.
I've had good luck with Pilkington.
I've found that its more common with Pilkington than any other brand, but as another said, defects and delamination can happen with OEM parts as well.
I've owned this vehicle a little over 3 months. This will be the second time I'm replacing it... yeah, I'd say this windshield is weak..
I had to have mine replaced less than 2 months after purchase in June 2023. A small rock got thrown up and put a big bullet hole in the glass.
My windshield cracked
Replaced the windshield twice in 3 years
