Hawk Performance Brake pads

I've owned an 01 225 Coupe for one year this past November. It's an AMU motor code and I love the car still. These are the things I have had to replace so far, not counting upgrades: Brakes & brake fluid & front rotors (Hawk HP, ATE superblue) $350

Pros: good braking
Vehicle: Audi TT
Mileage: 62000 km

What I did notice is that the brakes performed better when doing repeated stops which is related to their heat dissispation.

Pros: better performance, repeated stops

The 337/TT brakes will put a huge smile on your face. Of course, you should also make sure you have hi perf tires as well, or they will overpower your tires. It's a very, very wise upgrade. Get them with HPS pads and SS lines.

Pros: wise upgrade, huge smile
Cons: overpower your tires

I would recommend the TT brakes. Choose plain rotors if you are wary of drilled or slotted rotors, but those brakes with hawk pads (or something more appressive) should be fine. The added lever arm does help substantially, as well as the larger piston over stock.

Pros: added lever arm, larger piston

I run audio TT front rotors (12.3 instead of 11.3), aggressive pads (ferodo DS2500) and racing brake fluid (motul rbf 600) and even on the track where you have to do some high speed stops (125-45) I havent really seen much brake fade.

Pros: little brake fade

STOPTECH Brake pads

  • Braking:

As for Wilwoods - they are good but require more maintance due to the lack of a dust boot/seals on the pistons - unless they've changed that now. I had StopTech's on my TT and they were excellent. Of course i'd use Porterfield RS4 pads rather than the stock Axxis that comes with them, but I was very impressed with the fit and finish as well as overall power and modulation of the StopTechs.

Pros: excellent fit and finish, overall power and modulation
Cons: more maintance, lack of dust boot
Vehicle: Audi TT

Mintex Brake pads

My brakes on the front went at around 30K. I bought Zimmerman crossdrilled rotors, stainless brake lines, Mintex pads, and new fluid for all four wheels. I had the local Midas shop do the complete install for $200.

Pros: better brakes, good install
Vehicle: Audi TT
Mileage: 30000 km

OEM Porsche Brake pads

I've already had my 3.2 TT at the track (same brakes) and after the 3rd session (out of 5) the brakes began to fade. Also by upgrading you would also get a weight saving although with these HUGE brakes prob the same (lol). Actually I still think even with these you'd save 20-30lbs for both corners.

Pros: weight saving, cornering improvement
Cons: brakes began to fade
Vehicle: Audi TT
