I have changed my valve cover gasket.
Reviews of spare parts for BMW
I decided to upgrade to the M3 upper and lower control arms. After many months of research, I went with the TRW M3 control arm upgrade kit. This kit comes with the upper arms, lower arms, headlight leveling sensor, and all the required hardware. The arms also have the upgraded M3 monoball bushings pre installed. With the new M3 control arms I was able to jump from the maxed out -.6 degrees of front camber, all the way to -1.8 degrees. After getting the car dialed in, I took it out for a drive on some windy roads. Every single complaint I have had about the car is now gone. The turn in feels fantastic and far faster than it was before. Less steering effort is needed to place the front wheels exactly where you want them in a corner. Upgrading the control arms on a non-M E9X to the M3 versions is one of the best upgrades you can do for the money.
Surprisingly, I've never had a problems with Ebay used parts. Got an M3 brake booster for $50. BMW wanted $1000 for it so I bought two just in case one was bad. They were both fine.
I went with Zimmerman z-coat rotors and Hawks Performance Ceramic pads when I had my E46. Great stopping power, and low brake dust. The bite was progressive, so it required a little more force on the brake pedal, but it was easy to modulate how much you wanted to brake.
Seems like there would be room in the market for a slightly detuned S55 base model without the fancy seats, brakes and wheels for about $5-8k less like the M3/M4: M3/M4 Competition.
I run them on the street in the summer on my 135. Cheap as chips, and they handle pretty well. Want a cheap summer tire that's fairly comfortable and handles well? This is your frickin' huckleberry.
I purchased a pair to throw on the rear of my BMW after roasting a set of Pilot Super Sports on the track. For street driving they are 99% of a PSS at 50% of the price. Highly recommended.
I really love driving it though, particularly the brakes and the handling.
I bought a Bosch rebuilt alternator from ECStuning and installed it last night. The light however has stayed on.
Of course, the clutch rivets wore through the flywheel and pressure plate, requiring a new $1800 flywheel.
