Brands I recommend are of course Toyota OEM Super Long Life coolant and surprisingly Walmart Asian Red Super Long Life coolant (actually comes out pink ) has never failed me and I offer that as an option to my customers. Then there is the Valvoline zerex Asian I don\u2019t highly recommend this coolant but it does work just not that well from my experience.
Reviews of spare parts for Toyota Prius
Bosch are the best.
I bought one a couple weeks ago. It went right in and works perfectly so far. It's a really easy install too.
The best performing oil for cold starts is probably Pennzoil platinum full synthetic if your particular prius uses 0w-20. It is made from syn gas, and is particularly thin.
For comparison, i got 6,000 miles out of Pennzoil platinum vs royal purple, with which i would get 5,000 miles prior to the oil changing color and about a 1 to 2 percent dip in fuel economy. Regardless of the wear additives, Pennzoil platinum lasts longer, again likely due to the cold start performance and the way the hybrid drivetrain works.
I personally use mobile1 with a Lucas oil stabilizer. Oil still looks pretty clean when I change it.
I use mobil1 or castrol full synth 0W-20 for prius engines below 200k and 0W-30 for those above it. More than 30k mi now so far so good. I like the castrol better bec my engines sounds much quieter vs m1.
I use Mobil1 full synthetic 0w-20 advance fuel economy oil. As long as you get oil that meets the manufactures's spec, you will be fine.
Michelin defender best right longest lasting best mpg hands down I mount and balance tons of these tires it’s all I got on both my Prius
The yellow top is what I have in my car and there is one issue I have with it, the amp hour rating. The yellow top is only 38a/h where the OEM is about 45a/h. This will lead to the inverter using a lot of energy charging the 12v battery and decrease fuel efficiency.
Mine went at 220k, 2015 Prius V. Fixed it myself but I had the tools/time/interest. If you’ve overheated already it’s probably warped the head, cheaper to get a new (used) engine, have them put a new head gasket on that engine before it goes it to ward off future trouble.
