I installed Stoptech Brake Rotors and EBC Red Stuff pads together with SS brake lines. It really stops well now.
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
For what it's worth, I used to run the cheapest 235/40ZR18 tires I could find on my Jetta(Sunny brand if I recall), after a few years, I never had any complaints. Paid about $105 each and they seemed worth the money to me and not much different than the name brands($200+ each), at least as far as durability/safety was concerned
Update: There was a direct short in the alternator and when it shorted internally it also took out the 200 amp protection fuse ($115) too for the battery. I got a new Bosch unit and I was happy to find out I did not have to bring it to the nearest dealership and that a local German repair shop were able to do it.
Just for grins, I plugged the CTEK in overnight and by the next morning, it fired right up.
Buy 5L Vaico brand G13. Flush the system several times with distilled water. Then drain and purge with compressed air. Disconnect the heater core lines. Then pour in all 5L of pure antifreeze, and top off with distilled water.
My 08 FSI was using a lot of oil. Got the valve cover gasket replaced. Now still needs oil between changes but a LOT less.
I have EBC Red pads all around and am very happy with them. Very low dust. Less initial bite than the OEM pads and plenty of stopping power. I always thought the stock pads seemed to grab initially and wanted less braking with low pedal force. These Reds are much more linear (pressure vs. stopping) than the stockers were.
I have ebc reds in front, and hawk hps in rear. Way less dust than OEM pads and they seem to work a lil better.
i am using pfr7b. maybe coincidental but my 3000-6500 logs always run a few milliseconds faster. only problem with .028 are some few intermittent low rpm misfires.
I didn't know any better and used ****ty autolite spark plugs, and everything was fine and the misfires went away... A few days ago I noticed on quick acceleration and around 4-5k RPM's, the engine loses power, accelerates slower than...well, slower than a 2.0 normally is.
