OEM Volkswagen Brake pads
365FF
Rating 5.0
  • Braking:

I just traded in my 2019 Jetta with 65000 miles, never changed the brakes, but looked at them at 60000. It looks like they were at thick as new, insane. Would stop on a dime.

Pros: thick as new, would stop on a dime
Mileage: 65000 km

My 2017 VW Jetta 1.4 5M - at 67760 miles on the factory original plugs - now has new Bosch Iridium/Plattinum plugs - (YA5KIP80)..................(the only symptom on the old plugs was a MPG drop - no hard starting, no missing, no rough idle......... EZ

Pros: MPG drop symptom

Part number: YA5KIP80

ATE Brake caliper
Brancusi
Rating 3.0
  • Pulling:

Front drivers’ caliper is stuck open. I purchased an VW Ate refurb caliper but haven’t installed it. The other front side is good, and rears are only a few years old.

Pros: rears are only few years
Cons: caliper is stuck open

Nexen Tires

I’ll be honest these came in my brand new 2025 Volkswagen Jetta which I purchased last October and I already need a new set. I have put in a wreck of miles though 18k miles already but I still think they wore way too quick they’re at “4 tread and will need to replace.

Pros: wore way too quick
Cons: wore way too quick
Mileage: 28968 km

OEM Volkswagen Engine control unit (ECU)
snuggetz
Rating 1.0
  • Intermittent behavior:

My 1989 Volkswagen Jetta's ECU was going bad and it started pumping the maximum amount of gasoline into the engine. The car was significantly faster than it was previously. It took a few months, but eventually it flooded the oil compartment with gasoline which seized the engine.

Pros: car significantly faster
Cons: engine seized, oil compartment flooded
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta
