Reliability has been second to none, requiring only an ABS sensor and windscreen washer pump (other than servicing and basic wear & tear stuff (brakes & tyres)).
KYB are usually the best value for the quality
Using an AMAM coolant (typically yellow - “All Makes, All Models”) is the safest thing you can do. It has none of the nitrites, borates, silicates, etc. that can cause issues in various systems. It’s really one coolant that works everywhere. Peak 10X is a solid choice in that realm.
I'd rather change the fuel pump on my volvos then to ever think of doing it on a 94 Plymouth neon again
I use 0w40 Mobil 1 all year round. I live in upstate New York, so our winters can get pretty cold at times, and summers can be in the 90s F for days at a time.
My V70 2.5T is almost at 190k miles. I add about 1 quart of oil between oil changes at 5k intervals and my car has been trouble-free since I purchased it at 107k miles in 2017.
Do not cheap out on oil. I use Mobil 1 high mileage but Castrol is also good.
Tire inflation is important to fuel economy. Even 1 or 2 psi above the recommended pressure will yield positive results. Also, (in the US, at least) different brands of gas have different fuel additives in them... my V70 gets it's best mileage with Shell or BP.
Canada here: paid around $700 CAD for rear brake pads and rotors at Canadian Tire back in May for my 2008 V70.
Nothing on those, except the heater core, is awful to replace or maintain.
Vredestein summer tires but very disappointed by them. Last year they were excellent, this year they went bad. My confidence in rainy weather vaporized.
