Just stick to high quality pattern parts. Like from AS-PL can't speak to its long-term reliability. But the past looks and feels like quality. So i hope that those will also work for the next 30 years.
I recently replaced my alternator with a 90 amp one. Any alternator for a mk2 should fit, A/C or not, as it aligns with the water pump pulley. This is the one I used. Direct fit and works like a charm.
