For the actual shocks, I used BILSTEIN. B6 in the rear, B8 in the front. LOVE THEM. Drive an X6 though, stiff at first but after a work in really smooth.

I have regular Bilstein HD shocks at stock height. Also downsized the front anti roll bar from 28mm to 24mm. It rides really nice.

Don’t cheap out on the shocks. I had ranchos then I got bilstein 5100s and it was night and day. I have no problem driving it 700 miles round trip to Moab and back.

I have Bilstein 6112’s right now but am switching over to the Dobinsons MMR as hundreds of miles of washboard roads have definitely taken their toll.

I have the B6s on my 18 XT. They are stiffer than original shocks, but certainly not overly so. They should have been stock, as far as I am concerned.

probably a matched set of springs and dampers like bilstein b12 pro kit are best for a daily. i love mine

I went the 5160/6112 route and love them. Coming from stock suspension for the first 50k it was amazing offroad but really helped with the on-road nosedive and with upgrade springs in the rear helped tremendously with the sag from my rtt trailer.

I’ll at least give them points for wanting to use top quality components. Bilstein are nothing short of the best when it comes to shock absorbers.

TRD shocks were not super happy with towing, these I changed out with Bilstein 5100's at 70k miles.
Pros: better towing performance
Cons: not good for towing
