Elring on mine with no issues. However I would get the oem gasket from bmw.

Elring. Have one on my N55, fitment was indistinguishable from OEM and costs a fraction of the BMW one.
Pros: indistinguishable from OEM
Well at 112k km my N20 already changed the VCG twice. Once under warranty at 60k-ish km and one at 100k-ish km. The latter I was using Elring instead of Genuine BMW.

Change the valve cover gasket set, using ONLY the Elring original; their p/n is 326.560.

Without any doubt you’ll need a valve cover gasket replacement, make sure to get the bolt grommets and go with an Elring
I did an Elring one about 8 months ago... it's now started to leak. Talked to my indy shop, and they said they have had problems with most of the brands within a year and only go OEM. Wish I had.
