I remember seeing a Ford tech that figured this out and could remove the dash in less than an hour to do a heater core
Reviews of OEM FORD heater core
Friend having a heater core changed in a 2020-ish mustang: Dash removal, windshield removal, and a $4000 quote.
Heater cores leak? Must be a Chevy thing. I'm a Ford guy, didn't know it was even a thing.
They replaced the core in my 2003 Ranger when I bought it. Internet said it was a common problem, and that it was electrolysis. The soloution was to ground the heater core, which I did. Five years later it let go again.
I used a new heater core from an Econoline van, put hoses on it, connected it to an above ground pool pump, draped the core over my generator muffler that heated my hot tub at a festival in winter.
