My current Tiguan, I have the Meyle HD and TT strut mounts.

I have started to worry a little about the Meyle strut mounts that I bought. It's a german company right? I use other Meyle components and have no complaints, but I have read a few horror stories lately about cheap mounts.
Pros: no complaints
Cons: cheap mounts, horror stories

Josh at GAP (GermanAutoParts.com) recommended these parts...my mechanic is semi-against aftermarket parts, especially anything not made in Germany, since the parts do not fit correctly sometimes. Josh said the HD strut mounts are made by Meyle

They started deteriorating in less than a year; at a pretty shocking rate, actually.

Replace with Meyle HD strut mounts (about $11 each)
Pros: HD, inexpensive
If you use a standard VR6 strut mount, it will stretch over time, luckily Meyle has a HD version which addresses that issue.

I replaced everything Reynolds9000 listed and although it was a major improvement, the problem only went away when New strut mounts and bearings went in about 2 weeks later....along with tossing out the stock suspension and installing coils.

Cons: terrible wandering problems
