I only ever use Prestone universal coolant, from my newer car to my 1962 bulldozer.
I stopped at the gas station, got a gallon of good old tried and true Prestone Green which destroyed a water cooled alternator.
I just use prestone, it's green coolant. It's universal for all fuel types and coolant systems. I have never had any issues in the many years I have been using it.
My mechanic just switched my antifreeze to “Prestone yellow”. He said it’s for cars with high mileage (150k and higher) he said it’s softer on our old hoses and such! Car is running great.
I've only ever used Prestone which works great and has never been an issue.
I use prestones all weather,Great stuff
But for the love of god use the blue stuff. Preferably the correct brand but I couldn't find any in my hick-ass town so I used Prestone and I haven't noticed any ill effects
After that, you can run generally whatever universal coolant you'd like. I do a universal Prestone and have no cooling problems. I live at the beach and drive my stage 2 Jetta 2.5L pretty hard.
I bought prestone Max concentrate for all vehicles. The yellow stuff. I also looked at the technical data sheets on the product. Happy to report this thing runs cooler than it ever has and I live in Phoenix arizona.
