I have a 2023 touring with the same problem. Dead battery multiple times within the first few months. The dealership put in a new larger battery (900 cca) Subaru brand, had to take out the factory battery tray to make room for it. No problems as of yet.

Pros: new larger battery, no problems
Cons: dead battery multiple times

OEM Subaru Wiper blades

  • Wipe quality:
  • Streaks/chatter:

I’ve never had better blades in my 18 than the OEMs. Anything else need a clunky adapter, and none of them have worked as well.

Pros: OEM blades superior
Cons: aftermarket need adapter, aftermarket worked less well

OEM Subaru Brake fluid

  • Pedal feel:

You should be fine if you have kept up with normal maintenance . Some ideas of proactive things you can do.

1. Get your oil changed right before trip - start fresh.

2. Ask your dealer for an “multi point inspection.” My local does not charge. Idea is to make sure belts, fluids, no leaks, brakes all in good shape. Ask if they can specifically check / listen to the water pump.

3. If you have never flushed the brake fluid (replace) ask if you should. The reason to flush/change your brake fluid, isn’t because it “wears out” but because it becomes contaminated with moisture. Usually done every 30K miles.

Pros: change oil, flush brake fluid
Cons: brake fluid moisture

OEM Subaru Engine oil

I would also make sure that every time you fill up the gas you check the oil dipstick and if it’s a little low top off the oil. In fact, I think this is probably crucial to owning an older Subaru like mine mine has 300 K.

Pros: check oil dipstick
Cons: oil can be low

OEM Subaru AC compressor

Mine just seized up while I was 5 hours from home in my 2015... Lol. Started smoking and I could feel the air was humid so I immediately shut it off and it didn't melt my belt. Making a noise though so now I'm debating if I wanna rebuild it or juts buy a new one...

Cons: seized up, started smoking

OEM Subaru Fuel injector

You mentioned that injectors and coils were replaced. To be honest, all those parts and labor I can nearly guarantee were not necessary and I'm sure it was extremely expensive at the dealer. They simply threw parts at your car using your wallet.

Cons: expensive, unnecessary parts

OEM Subaru Air filter

  • Visible dirt:

Took my 09 Forester in for an oil change recently and they recommended I get the cabin and engine air filter replaced. I laughed in their face when they told me the price - $170.

  • Braking:
  • Vibration:

OEM rotors suck. I had a 2009 Forester before I bought my 2014 Outback Touring XT. I had to replace the front rotors numerous times due to warping which caused a shimmy when breaking. OEM would only last a couple of months and not many miles. Finally, I had enough and purchased a name brand from Rock Auto. That stopped the warping and shimmy.

Cons: warping, short lifespan

OEM Subaru Windshield

Windshield protection plan is mandatory for me and it’s probably going to be a cycle of new windshields until engineering can thicken them without compromising eyesight visibility. Between the car lot and DMV I was chipped. Any car with such camera input output capabilities seems to have weak ass windshields

Cons: weak, chips easily, frequent replacement
