Like all diesels, they're all about air flow, so only use the big German air filters by Mann or Mahle in it. The more air you feed it, the better it will run.
The HENGST (HFE615L01) air filter has an extra filtering layer.
Driven like it was stolen 55k miles I noticed that I've used a slight amount and the 1/5 amount is about what i have seen. I also noticed that it's been a little less since I cleaned my air filter.
I agree that learning how to change cabin and engine air filters yourself is great idea - it's really easy if you're good with your hands. Definitely YouTube it. 'Sakura' brand (eBay) is inexpensive - don't be put off by the fact they're made in Thailand - they're fine.
Swear so many people on here buy an old Honda and their first thought is ricing it with cheap “modifications.” At least catch it up on maintenance and make it look nice and clean first.
The OEM air filters for my 2020 LX are super well made and atleast locally in Canada I havn't found a better option.
I bought a few of the Lexus OEM ones... can't say I notice a difference but it made me feel better at the time!
I put one on my 08 , it's good but it throws check engine lights on me.
The k&n gets you nothing except for letting a lot of dirt through if you don’t oil it regularly.
K&N air filter is rated as the worst thing you can put on your vehicle. We tested different 'cold' air intakes when I went to Nascar Tech and K&N will take away around 8 horsepower.
