I've had the K&N in my V6 for the last 50,000 miles without any problems. When it came time to clean it I let it dry thoroughly (over 24 hours) before oiling, lightly oiled it, and let it soak in thoroughly before installing.
The K&N in my 2002 Passat has been working great for the past, uh, 300 miles.
I just threw in a k&n.
I've had a K&N drop in in my 99 1.8t since new, and I now have 70,000 miles on it. I've not had any problems with the MAF or anything else like that.
I can tell a HUGE difference in proformance between my K&N and paper air filter. The K&N is a whole lot better. I want it back.
