They are very good. With air suspension they tow better than they have any right to.
Owner reviews for air suspension
We make a 700 mile round trip drive about once a month that includes Highway, interstate, and rural secondary roads, and the air suspension is great for that.
2018 MY T8, bought at 50k km and now a little over 130k km on the clock. Relatively minor issues so far, biggest pain with air suspension (which is universally a problem in a cold climate), the Sensus UI is intuitive and works well (could be smoother, but not an issue).
I have had my 2011 A8 4.2 Quattro for about 5 yrs. Some small constant oil leaks, had air suspension reworked 2 yrs ago. It’s so nice to drive, fast as shit when I feel like it.
I have that exact same car. Got it new in 2017. Has 97 K miles. So far it has been amazing. Still drives smooth. It eats miles during road trips. Good blend of sportiness and luxury. Great for winter. I had to change the bags for the air suspension around 78K miles and a control arm that got messed while taking a pothole at high speed with the car loaded while moving from FL to Maryland. I just changed valve covers and spark plugs cause it had a small oil leak around 90K miles and it eats up about a quarter every 5 K miles recently. Apart from those things it has been pretty reliable and only needed regular oil changes and about 3 sets of tires which are not cheap.
Maintenance has been a bit pricey, front and rear air suspension, front and rear brakes, valve body in the trans failed and had the oil cooler leak.
A 2004 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. The sunroof broke and the air suspension was dodgy and never worked right even after full strut and compressor replacements (and was ultimately converted to coilovers). Oh, and a wheel fell off while driving because the studs were damaged.
air suspension issues (cold winters here - pretty much all air suspension cars end up having problems in some 5 years of ownership)
BMW 7 series was an absolute nightmare. Air suspension failures multiple times in the first year. Each time required the car to be in shop for 4 weeks for them to order parts under warranty. I’d get it back only for the air suspension to go out on another side. They couldn’t replace all in one go since it was a warranty and needed it to fail before placing a claim and again the 4 week wait for parts…
With the GTS, we had problems with the air suspension (which was very expensive)
