I've been running a Deka ETX20L AGM battery in my car for a loooong time. A few years ago I saw that Noco made a line of lithium (LiFePO4) motorsports batteries, with the NLP20 being a suitable replacement for the ETX20L I've been using. I searched quite a bit but couldn't find anyone saying they ran one of these in a regular car. Eventually I think I found someone in a Porsche forum saying they used one in their daily driver, so I decided to give it a try as well. Managed to grab one for about $100 and I swapped it in last night. Car started right up and drove fine. I used my P3 gauge to keep an eye on the voltage levels and everything seemed normal. I'm super happy that it works, cause now I've dropped another ~11 lbs or so off the front end.
Owner reviews for battery
I just installed mine recently and works great. Just keep in mind it's an AGM battery.
I replaced mine in my 2018 GLE63s with an aftermarket one from Auto Zone (Duralast Platinum). I finally got my start/stop feature back which I had forgotten about and also forgotten how annoying it was to have it ????
I replaced the OEM battery in my low-mileage 2019 Alltrack S two days ago. (OEM battery was lead-acid 5K0 915 105 D, it was replaced with a Duracell Ultra Platinum SLI47AGM, 600 CCA.)
I would stick with a Yuasa YBX3012 - they are known to work reliably in the Zoe so I would go from others experience.
After several tests they were able to get the battery fail code they were looking for. Nissan replaced the battery with a new one, and so far so good.
I have seen this before: one of the tradesmen at work gave me two Makita 18V batteries that the charger had spat the dummy at. Both had lower voltages than the charger was happy about.
I put both in turn on to charge using my benchtop supply, for an 18V Li battery it needs to go to 4.2V per cell or 21V for the pack, and set the current limit to 1.5A, kept a careful eye on them while they charged.
Both packs took charge and recovered, they got to 21V and the PSU dropped the current back to zero, just like a charger would.
I gave the packs back to Jeremy, and he tells me that they are fine now and do recharge OK.
I run the red top. I haven't noticed any issues except it doesn't fit the stock tray.
I used an Optima, never again.
my yellow top won't hold a charge after two winters in my project car. will never spend another dime with them
