The rear brake pads I use all the time are ferodo 2500, they are great for the track and don't make noise on the street.

However the cold bite of the ax-6 is far superior to the xp10 for street and auto-x, and in my opinion far better than what my oem pads felt like and far more than the hps.
Hawk Performance Ceramic pads on the front and rear. In the past 2-months I've run 2-track days (Buttonwillow and AutoClub Speedway Roval) and I'm really impressed with their fade-resistance after 6-7 hotlaps (17+ minutes) into a session.
Carbotech XP10's are great for the track, but for daily driving they won't heat up enough to give you the stopping power that they are capable of. They also sqeal like crazy if they are not hot.
It's a very noticeable difference when compared to the stock 10.1" (on my 99 4-door that is). You add a little bit more weight up front, but it's worth it since you get much better stopping power. I will never go back to the stock brakes, I love my G60 brakes
i did hawk race ceramics and powerslot pros from tirerack.com all i have to say is amazing! no fade or anything!

i like my hawks.. people say they are more dusty.. i didnt think so.. after tracking them once tho i feel like they wore kinda quickly
If you are doin competition, yeah, EBC pads and slotted / drilled are worthwhile, but for mere performance road use, there's no point (except for looks). The rotors wear faster, create more dust, and the pads, whilst they may not create as much dust, will squeal.
I had a set of Mintex Red Boxes on my '98 GTI-VR6. Other than producing less dust (or a less-visible dust), I thought they were garbage. The stock pads stopped and felt better.
