Sachs Clutch kit

Rating 5.0
  • Engagement smoothness:

I went with the "Performance" clutch kit from Sachs directly for ~$1300 including dual mass flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. Rated to 550+Nm. No regrets. Was SUPER stiff when I first got it, but loosened up within 300-400 miles and feels close to stock now in terms of clutch effort, more grabby than stock.

Pros: more grabby than stock, no regrets
Cons: SUPER stiff when new
Mileage: 400 km

Luk Clutch kit

The 065 is basically like a stock clutch kit. I have the 065 behind my 01' XJ 4.0L linked with an ax-15.

Pros: like stock clutch kit
Vehicle: Jeep Cherokee
Part number: 05-065

Sachs Clutch kit

Check rockauto. They have some brand name clutch kits for your car (sachs, valeo, luk). They also have the dual mass flywheel for your car as well for much less than 900$. You may not even need the flywheel replaced.

Pros: brand name clutch kits
Vehicle: MINI

I have a used Sachs Performance clutch kit w/ single mass flywheel for TSI engines for sale. This came off my GTI when I replaced a squeaky throwout bearing. Had I known what was in the car to begin with I would have kept this clutch kit but I had already ordered a new one. The setup still clamped well without slipping before removal but the flywheel and pressure plate surfaces do have discoloration due to heat (see pictures).

Pros: clamped well without slipping
Cons: discoloration due to heat
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Sachs Clutch kit

Rating 5.0

After installing the Sachs clutch kit I didn't reinstall the helper spring because the pedal force level was still just right. As far as gear rattle in neutral I have zero rattle (same as when stock).

Pros: zero rattle, pedal force right

Luk Clutch kit

Okay so i have a 93 mk1 cabriolet and i have just replaced the clutch about 6 months ago with a LUK clutch kit from rockauto. Recently ive noticed that when i give the car more than 50% throttle the rpms continue to increase but the car gains almost no speed.

Cons: rpms increase, car no speed
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Luk Clutch kit

I replaced the disc with LUKs kit and also had my flywheel resurfaced to be safe. The new set-up has about 300 miles on it and continues to slip. Most noticeably around 2700 - 3400 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear. I can feel it seem to slip then catch and gain a magical 15 hp. I have not allowed the clutch to slip enough to have glazed the clutch disc so that's not a possibility, and my "auto" adjusting clutch cable seems to be okay (I can push the transmission arm downwards and the clutch cable spring returns it to the 9 o'clock position). Proper torque specs and sequence were followed and everything was extremely clean upon installation. Also there are no leaks so there is no fluid getting on the disc. New clutch disc, re-surfaced flywheel, new rear main seal, new pressure plate.

Cons: clutch continues to slip, slips in 3rd and 4th gear
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta
Mileage: 483 km
