OP I have the same car and engine as you, I've been using the cheap Mannol stuff, whichever is cheapest. Also whichever the cheapest oil filter is from ECP at the time. Car is currently on 120k and I've been doing this for at least 5 years and it hasn't eaten itself yet!

You can actually get decent quality oil which is not from an expensive brand for pretty cheap, particularly if you buy a 20l jug.
For example, Mannol offer fully synthetic oils which meet OEM specifications
What brand oil are you using? I noticed a decrease in consumption with Mobil 1 and stuck with it.
I use it on my 22 street Bob. My mechanic swears amsoil will make it run cooler but idk. I’m going to try the amsoil when my 10k comes up soon. I’ll always run synthetic either way.
We haven\u2019t done anything but oil changes since buying it.
Fuck Mobil 1. Get you some penzoil ultra platinum or better yet some amsoil. They’re both miles better than Mobil 1. I used to use Mobil before switching to penzoil. The difference was noticeable
Been using Mannol 5w30 Full Synthetic for past 35k miles now without any issues.
I have personal experience with using amsoil in a Cadillac Northstar which are notorious for burning. It did stop that in that car
I started using motul 10w40 after my apache rtr 180 crossed 50k kms. It gave the old engine required smoothness and the engine feels stress free.
For those who aren't certain about which oil to use, I've read that the "fully synthetic" oil in the USA really isn't fully synthetic and the Liquid Moly stuff from ECS tuning might be a notch or two better than the Mobile 1 from WalMart*.
