Koyo Engine radiator

  • Overheating:

Im in AZ, and I was hitting up in the 225+ coolant after a Grimmspeed FMIC, and so I went ahead and upgraded to a koyo. Now I’m staying around 196-206 depending on situations. Highest I’ve seen is 208 or so.

Pros: lower coolant temps, stable temperatures

Motorcraft Engine radiator

Motorcraft. Its manufactured by ford, its almost always the way to go unless you want performance. But the motorcraft is likely the best out of all of these anyway

Pros: best quality, reliable choice

  • Overheating:

I have a mishimoto radiator. At idle the highest I get to is 196 F then it drops down to about 185 F. While driving I’m usually averaging about 178 - 190 F if I’m not in stop and go traffic.

Pros: stable low temperatures

  • Leaks:

I have a Koyo radiator on my 2019 and am really impressed with it. You get a thicker core and all aluminum construction so you don't have to deal with the metal/plastic interface of the OEM one that can crack/leak over time.

Pros: thicker core, all aluminum construction
Vehicle: Subaru

I've been using an OEM style Koyo Radiator for the last 10 years on a clutch fan. Multiple track days and never any overheating issues.

Pros: no overheating issues, long-term reliability
Vehicle: Nissan

Koyo Engine radiator

Mine developed a small slow leak out of that nub two weeks after I bought it. Koyo gave me the run around on their warranty, insisting on photos of a destroyed radiator for replacement. I gave up. It’s a shame because it fit awesome and looked great.

Pros: awesome fit, great look
Cons: developed slow leak, poor warranty service
Vehicle: Honda S2000

Nissens Engine radiator

Rating 2.0
  • Overheating:

After the copper OEM radiator broke I replaced it with a nissens aluminum radiator now the thermostat never hits operating temperature, I changed the thermostat to what the book wanted which was a 190 degree thermostat but even still the gauge doesn't go up all the way. I replaced one of the senors and the main coolant temperature sensor but still it doesn't go all the way up. On top of that it takes the gauge a good 3 minutes just to move slightly. Doesn't need to be fix probably but still annoys me

Cons: thermostat never heats up, gauge doesn't go up, slow temperature rise
Vehicle: Mitsubishi

OEM BMW Engine radiator

The white tank has never been the issue for me, leaks are always in the radiator frame surrounding that tank. Somewhere at the bottom, probably where the lower hose goes. The plastic is brittle crap and it develops micro-fractures that become cracks over time.

Cons: brittle plastic, develops cracks
Vehicle: BMW
