Garrett Turbocharger

I had a 2871r on mine and loved it. It was a dog below 4k on motor alone, but it made 400 at the tires. On the bottle with 50hp jetting it was a different animal and made close to 500. It ran like a raped ape with that combo. 20+psi at 2500 no problem

Pros: loved it, 400hp, 20+psi at 2500
Cons: dog below 4k

Yes, its great! Off the bat the car has a bit more character, the exhaust note has a slightly different tone to it, you get more pop and crackle on the shifts and you hear more turbo noise. The powerband is smoother, stock it seemed peaky and fell off a bit towards redline, with this setup it just keeps pulling much harder. Overall, totally worth it!

Pros: more character, smoother powerband

Garrett Turbocharger

Around 82k I went with a full gtx3071r... My car now has 110k and still runs like a champ. I drive it hard. I roll race it. I take it to the drag strip. It’s seen countless rolling antilag and NLS. Never a days problem never even a CEL in its life. I’d drive it anywhere

Pros: runs like a champ, no problems
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 110000 km

OEM Audi Turbocharger

I specced it when I blew the turbocharger on my MQB Audi S3. Audi wanted almost $29,000.00. It turns out that all I needed was a new turbocharger and a cleaning of the impeller shards from my intercooler.

BorgWarner Turbocharger

The absolute cheapest brand new turbocharger you can buy for those engines is an aftermarket BorgWarner and will set you back no less than €1000 + shipping.

Pros: brand new turbocharger
Cons: expensive, aftermarket

APR Turbocharger

Currently at 97K, went APR 87 IS20 at 81K about this time last year. Was 87 stg 1 IS12 at 64K spring 2021. So far only issues was wastegate related from my used turbo, and oil consumption.

Cons: wastegate issues, oil consumption
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 97000 km

APR Turbocharger

After the stage 1 APR tune almost immediately roasted my IS12's wastegate, I'm about 4 months into an APR stage 3 IS20 setup. Aside from a persistently unenjoyable power delivery, the car's been reliable so far.

Pros: car's been reliable
Cons: unenjoyable power delivery
Vehicle: Volkswagen

OEM FORD Turbocharger

44000 and turbo out, going on 8 weeks now and still haven't gotten parts. Can't get ford or dealer to give me a loaner, definitely going to trade for it for something else, been a Ford guy all my life. But 8 weeks to replace a turbo is b*******. Local auto parts store said get one in 2 days, so can't understand why Ford takes over a month and a half

Cons: turbo failure, long wait for parts, no loaner, poor service
Vehicle: Ford Bronco
Mileage: 70811 km

OEM FORD Turbocharger

Replaced the turbo here also at 40k under warranty. I don’t trust it. We are getting out after warranty is up. Love the concept of the car, too bad ford can’t figure out how to make a quality engine. The turbo being back ordered for weeks and just this thread alone kinda confirms there is probably a widespread issue ford hasn’t announced yet

Pros: covered under warranty
Cons: turbo replacement needed, don't trust car, quality engine issues, back ordered parts
Vehicle: Ford Bronco
Mileage: 64374 km
