Air filter K&N or Wix
If you are handy buy a K&N air filter if you are keep your car >100000 miles and then you will need a recharging kit at some mileage intervals.
I just spend the $50 on a K&N filter for my cars. Another $20 gets you the kit for cleaning and re-oiling. $70 for a filter and years worth of filter clean/renew cycles.
A K&N cold air filter will not hurt , as long as you are committed to regularly cleaning & oiling the filter.
I also ordered a K&N drop in filter.
Upgrade to a K&N filter and a recharge kit. With a washable filter, you simply pop it out, clean it, let it dry and apply the oil... Pop it back in the vehicle... Good to go! Guess what? You SAVED money!!
P.S. this same Toyota dealership told me I needed a new air filter upon which I told him, “It’s a K&N...” he said oh, and walked back into the garage.
the only advantage to the k&n is the reusability. for actual filtration, oem paper filters are better. power differences, on these cars, i dont think you will see any differences unless you are pushing over 325hp
I've been using a K&N for a few weeks. I haven't noticed any power gains, but the throttle response feels slightly quicker (this could be in my head, but who cares, I'm happy). No difference in fuel economy.
Air filter, I'd stay far far away from K&N, more flow = more dirt getting in and oil could mess up the MAF. Also, you are not going to gain anything.
K&N filters are a scam. Anyone who installs them is a sucker. Anyone who recommends them is a rube who doesn't understand how their vehicle works.
If you care about your car, DO NOT install one of this shitty products.
THEY DO NOT MAKE MORE PERFORMANCE ON A STOCK OR NEAR-STOCK VEHICLE.
THEY ALSO DO NOT FILTER WORTH A CRAP.
YOU WILL NOT HELP YOUR ENGINE AND YOU WILL CAUSE EXCESSIVE WEAR.
