Alternator Bosch or Denso
I bought a Bosch alternator at O’Reilly’s for ~ $300 and the gaskets at Autozone for ~ $100 (you can get them cheaper but I needed them quickly)
I used a Denso re-manufactured unit through Napa on a 2014 Camry a few years ago. Many short trips as it gotten 4 teenagers through high school. Still going strong.
I went with a reman denso and it's been a while but I swear I remember reading the remans were better than new.
Only only only get oem alternator. They won’t last otherwise. I believe the brand is denso. Other brand only lasted 3 months in mine.
Get the denso reman. Most reasonable option vs buying a new denso at the dealer. Main difference is no Honda logo otherwise absolutely identical.
Denso reman if you don't want to do this job again.
I would use the BOSCH from fcpeuro.com without hesitation.
I suggest either getting your OEM DENSO alternator rebuilt at a shop (costs like $60?) or picking up a low mileage used DENSO alternator from a junk yard (or eBay). The Amazon new ones are probably junk and can cause trouble down the line.
Symptoms: Flickering lights, and occasional hiccup start. Now battery light is coming on and staying on. When stationary battery tests around 12.5 volts. When running, that drops to 11.7 volts.
On my '93 240, I used a 740 external regulator Bocsh alternator...100amps...the problem is is that the voltage regulator takes a dump, which leads to people replacing the entire unit (like me years ago).
