Alternator OEM FORD or Bosch
I ran the Toywagen with the waterpump and the crank. PS is only with the crank. I had to use a MK3 v-belt PS pulley for the waterpump as the stock one didn't align for some obscure reason. I have one of those aftermarket Bosch alts, so I had to put 2 washers to space the toyagen even more
Ive done it and it turned out awesommmmme
Bosch redesigned the alternator and they seem to last as long as the original factory warranty.
With the motor running, both low beams and high beams on, wiper on, rear brake lights on, heater fan at full speed and the stereo running at a good volume, the alternator provides 57 amps to the car at 13.5 volts.
We have an '05 ZX5. The alternator crapped out at about 45k miles. $50 part, did it myself. Otherwise, it's been flawless. 60k and counting.
Yes a VR6 alternator will work on an ABA. But you need to know the difference between a Valeo 90A pulley and a Bosch 90A. They are not interchangeable.
I got mine in and running Perfect for people who need a little more room running ITBs It even charges better than my rebuilt bosch did (hitting 14v)
Toyota - Denso $213.68 VW - Bosch $166.61 BMW - Bosch $169.00 Lexus - Denso $249.44 Honda - Denso $323.40 Mercedes - Bosch $180.26 Mazda - Denso $234.06 Audi - Bosch $187.10 Land Rover - Bosch $209.82 Porsche - Bosch $169.87
I had a Cougar (same underpinnings) and mine went through alternators like candy. I'm sure a better-designed aftermarket version would probably take care of it though.
I bought my Bosch 120aalternator from Autozone because of the warranty and had to use it about 3k into its life when the bearing failed. I also had Bosch reman fail on my Nissan after 1 1/2.
