Battery OEM BMW or OEM KIA
I’ve had my iX for 2.5 years and have logged 122k miles. I haven’t noticed any degradation in battery capacity. Just the normal summer/winter fluctuations (live in Midwest).
I had one with the battery that lasted just under 12 years.... Old original BMW batteries are built different! Especially if the car is driven regularly.
Same with my 2008 BMW 535d. 900ah and still going strong
I had a battery in a 93 BMW last forever like that
when we bought our 2024 Kia Sportage hybrid, the salesman was showing us around it and got around to popping the hood, I did not see a 12 volt battery.
Regardless, while that’s sorta old for a battery, I have OEM BMW batteries going on 12 years with 89% charge capacity.
These were very very well made batteries. They also used to be insanely expensive. Now, BMW knows the game and offers a 2 year warranty, which is pretty low for batteries, but they are very competitively priced.
My 2021 45e usually gets 30-34 in mild southern US weather per charge.
Another is that the OEM Kia battery just sucks…they fail. The fix is to get a new battery that doesn’t suck. Kia will replace the dead one within warranty but you’ll get another dodgy OEM battery. Most people seem to trend towards buying a good AGM aftermarket battery for this.
Well it's 30 months old and is still 6 months under the pro-rated warranty. Took it to a dealer, they replaced it and said it would be 226 dollars! I asked if they checked the warranty and the technician stepped away and came back 20 minutes later. "kia corporate declined the warranty on your battery".
