Brake discs Brembo or GiroDisc
Brembo rotors and pads are cheaper than OEM and way better.
Get some slightly more aggressive pads and GOOD OEM blank rotors i.e. Brembro. Do SS lines ATE super blue fluid or whatever the current offering is (they can't do blue anymore).
Cost me $260 (parts and labor) to have the 4 Brembo rotors installed and the brakes are working great again. I think I am partially to blame for not bedding the pads properly.
I have their drilled discs on my TR6. My dream was Ceriani, forks with disc brakes, I still have a new brembo caliper. They are and were a status item.
For daily use, go for brembo blanks on your rotors. Oem pads are great for that initial bite but HORRIBLE on dust. I would go for akebono ceramic pads. They need a little more time to be warmed up but they’re great imo. Hardly any dust, super quiet, and they do just fine on my occasional canyon runs.
I put Brembo Sport rotors with EBC Red Stuff pads and ATE TYP200 brake fluid. Works great.
Got these on my Corolla, they're actually good for reasonably cheap brakes.
i was on the fence about buying them and i did a bunch of research and after speaking with my buddy who is a mechanic and owns a tundra he said that the powerstop brakes aren't great and if you don't have the money to do the tundra swap, to get the brembo rotors and either akebono or brembo pads. ive been driving with this setup for about six months and have had no issues. the braking feel and stopping power has noticeably improved.
Update for all those following along. My brakes were the best they've ever been today - on a very, very hot day (feels-like temp over 100). I had a vibration with light brake pressure, but pressed on giving more pressure and found that as the brakes got more heat in them, and I went deeper into the braking zone, the vibration disappeared. All was well, but after checking the rotors, they appear to have developed cracks.
On my old '93 300ZX, my brakes were shot so I had specifically ordered Brembo (solid) rotors, Hawk HPS pads, SS brake lines and the blue performance brake fluid. honestly, I really never felt that the brakes were that much better than oem.
