Brake discs Centric or R1 Concepts
I did the $520 option. Easy to use, a nice surprise to see you picked those Vs something generic.
Have been putting r1concept rotors on my vehicles for 10 years. Corolla, lexus is 250, ford f150, saab 9-3, volvo xc 90. Have always gotten drilled/slotted braking performance seems to be twice as good. The last few cars I know I got my geomet rotors and ceramic pads. But 8 years ago got rotors on my lexus. Felt great never really had a problem. I was showing off in the back roads of wv, super hill, county roads. Maybe a 20 minute drive and I did have the car filled with people. Hit 95 mph a couple times. Everything was fine got back parked, my back rotors were smoking for atleast 10 minutes very visible. Still never had any issues after that. That is apparently super common. Not cause for too much concern. Never had it with any other vehicle any other time. I speed excisively. Just saying if you intend to use them for a track car I'd wanna be aware of that. Who knows if the geomet rotors would've improved things.
I have a drilled and slotted set with performance pads from R1 Concepts (was going ti replace pads but 1 rotor was bad). I have had them for about 4 months now and only complaint us the squeeky pads. I have a larger vehicle (Forester) so i feel the fade a bit sooner than most, but i feel these rotors do a good job of preventing that. I dont ride the brakea that hard but its still noticable.
I go with Centric premium rotors and Stoptech pads and I like the setup, Centric makes the rotor blanks for Stoptech big brake kits, I got turned on to them when I had my E46 M3 and that was the recommended setup for daily/hpde/autox use.
I have been using r1concepts brakes since my first car over a decade ago. There brakes can be found at jegs, amazon and rock auto. Compared a 2021 receipt to current. I don't have any experience with powerstop. But r1 concepts brakes are way better then factory I've gotten metallic and ceramic pads the eline and geo line of rotors. Geo was so good. Typical rotors in the winter when you park in the garage and the next day the first brake has that squeal where your breaking the rust off of the rotor the geos never had that problem. I always got drilled and slotted and it definitely significantly improved breaking and I never had an R1concept rotor fail.
Centric blanks and pick a pad you like.
I run centric blanks on a focus st and even on track the rotors haven’t been the problem and focuses are extremely hard on the front brakes because of the ediff. Pads and fluid is where you want to spend your money upgrades on brakes
I have heard from a few people now who do both autocross and lapping days to not get too fussed about rotor selection. Make sure your braking system is in good shape and replace parts as needed, but even the "cheap" rotors will do the job. I have a street/hybrid pad, relatively recent brake fluid, and Centric (I think) rotors off RockAuto. Been working well for me the past couple of years.
I’ve been getting r1 concepts after the oem rotors warped, never had a problem since.
Doesn’t really matter. But you’re better bet is slotted or blank. Drilled can crack under track day use. But that’s not really a problem for quality rotors. On our auto X Vett we used centric 120 smooth rotors.
