Given that and the new ceramic brake pads by Akebono and the car is now very quiet.
I like Akebono ceramics.

I just did my brakes and rotors and bought at rock auto . Deff do akebono pads they are the best. I did like high performance pads. Much better bite when you hit brakes. And as for rotors I just did like a OEM type rotor . I forget which ones. Not the cheapest ones tho. I did like 2 steps up from economy probably premium. Altogether I think I payed like 275for the whole set up and I'm very happy with them . No rust . And I drive a lot so if they were bad I'd know haha I already put a few thousand miles on them

Pads I always liked Akebono for low dust
Akebono is by far my favorite with minimal dust and excellent lifespan. I have used Bosch and Mazda OEM over the life of my car.
IMO, Akebono Ceramics are the shiz. I had some on my Audi A4. Way better than stock, very little dust to clean off, and you can just get them off Amazon for less than OEM.
Zimmermann is quality. If you want OEM brake feel go with Textar or Pagid pads. I have Akebono pads on the Z3 and don’t like them
Very surprised that you guys are fans of Akebonos... Had them in the wife's Z4 and found the initial bite and overall braking performance to be much much weaker than the OEM BMW pads... It was bad to the point that I removed them a couple months in and just got Pagid pads for it...
