He used Powerstop Z23 pads/Evolution Geomet Rotors I bought from Rock Auto (those were about $300 shipped). He even wiped down the inside of the wheel rims.
I did PowerStop drilled & slotted with ceramic pads. Fantastic upgrade. Lasted about 2 years until they got noisy as hell.
Brakes and hoses ATE.
I would pick power stop at about $150 give or take - you are there with the labor time - put in the new parts
Powerstop Z23 works just fine. Z26 if you want low dust.
I went with a set of Powerstop brakes rear and front and ordered OEM brembos which should completely solve the shutter also improving stability when braking. Will update this
I ran the Ford Severe Duty pads, and now the Power Stop Z36. The Severe Duty pads performed great but had a LOT of brake dust. They are semi metallic so should be higher performance at the cost of brake dust and pad/rotor life. The Power Stop pads feel like they perform just as good (towing) and have almost no brake dust, and seem to be long lasting so I'd recommend them.
I put power stop pads on and generic slotted rotors from local parts store.
I used PowerStop on my Land Cruiser and they were great, so I installed PoweStop on my wife’s rav4 and they were terrible. Very noisy with the squeaks , clicks, and clunks. I replaced them with Akebono and they have been fine since.
