Brake pads Carbotech or STOPTECH
Anyway, the XP12's and 8's are freakin' awesome. Super bite, modulation and power but they're loud as hell on the street. Personally, I don't mind so I drive everywhere screaming like a banshee.
I LOOOOOOOOOVE my 1521's. Also they look snazzy.
Carbotech 1521's FTW.... Literally you will have to wash your car before you will have to wash your wheels. Unbelievable that pads make so little dust and stop this good.
1521s are insane. They really create next to zero dust.
Yeah I love the setup so much on the track I actually leave them on the car on the street and just deal with the noise from the Carbotechs.
A good street and occasional track pad is carbotech bobcat
I have always followed a similar technique that I found from StopTech but it's cool to see what is happening while doing it. And for anyone doing this, it takes a good long drive to cool down everything before you come to a complete stop. I didn't watch the whole thing but heard the guy touch on it briefly and that is if you have to come to a complete stop do not leave your foot on the brake pedal as you will surely leave a big blotch of pad material in that one spot and then you will get the "warped rotor" feeling as that bit of the rotor will be extra grabby.
LoyalSage, yesterday i installed my new brake stuff. that would be Adam's slotted rotors with zinc, Carbotech Bobcat 1521 pads (semi-metallic), and the Tyrol kit. i'm possibly not finished with wearing off the zinc, but i'm pretty sure i'm in stable territory now. about 70-80 miles since install. ok my impressions: definite improvement with linearity of braking. OEM tends to overgrab on initial bite, go soft a bit at about 20%, then dig in hard again at about 30-40%, which makes smooth modulation too difficult. the Bobcats grab less on initial contact, and are relatively much more linear down to about 80% (as hard as i have braked since installing). the feel is more firm all the way as well... more feel of the friction at the pedal. if anyone was looking for good pads for this car, i think i found 'em. they obviously work well with Adam's rotors, as this combo is much nicer than OEM IMHO. but, to be honest, i think the modulation you want will not be found here. i think i know what you're looking for, and while this is an improvement, it's not like a multi piston setup.
When I upgraded my brakes I had to measure them myself and give the information to StopTech so they knew what I had.
Driving with the Carbotech 1521(front) for 3 weeks, now. They, definitely, don't have the OEM grasp and power. For everyday driving, they're ok, however... The big plus,no dust,no dust at all.
