Brake pads EBC or OEM Mazda
My suggestions : Oil cooler, change break pads with ceramics (EBC redstuff), gallery gasket, replace half the exhaust line (the genuine rear silencer is a crime and heavy), rear tyres 285/35R19. Those things will make the car better, more reliable, safer (this car is 1.6t dry, you could be surprised with default brake attack) and widespread among Z lovers.
Now I’m a much happier camper with my EBC Yellowstuff’s.
OEM ceramic brake pads can last 60k to 90k miles.. But they're not that expensive if you change them yourself. Very easy on Mazda, best changed at about 50k miles of normal driving, before they wear too much more, to keep quality OEM rotors for longer.
EBC greenstuff pads have always been the best option for my style of driving. They don't fade like oem pads
The EBC FA606HH are a good upgrade. Great feel and initial bite.
I upgraded to a two piece rotor (kit reused the stock caliper, I put EBC green pads in) and never had fade problems again.
2024 prem plus with 50k miles and no major issues. At 6k miles the battery was defective and then at 11k miles and then again at 36k miles my front brakes were shot.
235 km/h on the german autobahn, from one border to the other, no issue! Except for the numerous heavy breaking... Going from over 200 to less than 100 several times in a row and you start loosing confidence in the brakes.
Good to know EBC quality control still sucks. I had a pair of their pads come apart, literally the meat of the friction material sheared off the backing plate.
Cx5 2024, one year old and the brakes are completely shot and need to be replaced. I was quoted like 1.5k and the manufacturer only offered $500 discount on the new brakes. I’m honestly appalled.
