Brake pads Hawk Performance or WILWOOD
Hawk (no, not that Hawk) pads work well, bedding in process is straightforward, and they only squeaked for a first few hundred miles or so when coming to a dead stop.
I autocross mine. With whatever pads the last guy used and old fluid, I could put the brake pedal to the floor without activating ABS. I swapped out pads for hawk hps 5.0 and put on new standard rotors and now I can stop almost instantly. I very highly recommend the hps 5.0.
i like the HAWK HPS 5.0 pads. they've been pretty good for daily driving.
I just finish installing new rotors/pads on my 2019 R-Line Tiguan - O.E.M. Hardware gave up at 34K Miles.... I installed A.P.R. front and rear rotors... HAWK Front & Rear Performance pads
I went with DBA street slotted rotors and hawk hps pads. Couldn't be happier. Also way less brake dust compared to stock pads.
I'm using Hawk HPS pads on mine, and Raybestos Advanced rotors. It's a good sharp stop.
The OEM pads on my R create more dust than my Hawk HPS pads on my GLI. I’d rather have pads that perform and are kind of dusty. Honestly the dust is easier to clean off than the stock pads so it’s a wash lol.
And yeah the 5.0 is the newer version. As per Hawk: Hawk Performance said: The HPS 5.0 compound is similar in application with a strong focus on improving the already great properties of HPS. This compound offers stronger fade reduction, increased stopping power, easier modulation, and a decrease in wear, noise, and dust. In short, this compound can take more abuse while maintaining great street friendly performance characteristics!
I have run Wilwoods on my Corrado for years with the usual rebuilding every two years. Even with ABS under full braking using the BP10 pads it would occasionally lock up fully and blow a cogged belt off the supercharger.
You will find the HP+ pads are possibly the worst pads ever. You get all the downsides of track pads and street pads. The dust from Hawks will also eat your wheels.
