I bought front and rear brake pads/ rotors (rock auto, centric brand, akebono brakes) for $300. It took me total about 3 hours since I had to bleed the brakes, change pads, rotors, and remove off jack stands.
I personally like Centric Posi-quiet ceramic pads or powerstop ceramics. Low dust, brake plenty fine for daily use and spirited driving.
Centric tactical police pads and wagner wave rotors. Best combo I've ever used. Used them on the race track \ud83d\udc4d
Funny but I gave the Centric brand ceramic pads a shot and did not see any difference with Akebono. Same bute, no dust, no esting rotors. Been about 5 weeks now and abiut 1000 miles. No issues
For years I ran Pagid Black on the fronts and Pagid Yellow on the rear.
My personal compromise on the GT4RS is Pagid RSL29 front and rear.
Pagid yellow for me.
Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic Pads + Centric Premium Rotors
• Pros: Affordable, reliable, low dust
• Cons: Not a performance upgrade, but solid for daily driving
The MK7 R community seems to like Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic Though I had a love-hate relationship on them. Centric claims no bedding was necessary... so, I listened to them and found the lack of braking dangerous. Then, one late night, on an empty highway, I bedded them in with about 10, 70-5 mph medium to hard slow downs, got the rotors heated up and brake pads smelling... then drove on the highway for about half hour, then turned around and went home and let the brakes completely cool. Then I loved the brakes.
I went through a set on my M4 in two days. Have Pagid RSL29 now and three very hard driving days in they show little if any wear
