Brake pads OEM Honda or OEM Volkswagen
I put brakes from a 2008 R32 on my MK6 gti. They were cheaper than the golf r on ebay at the time. They work really well.
You'll find most common needs (brake pads, etc) in stock everywhere, and rarer parts will be easy to find in a day or two.
Two rotors=$100. Set of pads about $50. Couple wrenches, jack and jack stands.
Mk6 2.5L A/T. They just work. Brakes last forever, no engine or transmission issues, none of the weird mk4 body problems with windows or wipers, just great cars.
All 10th gen civics do this.. 10th gen accord, and we've noticed it on some 11th gen civics, too... There was an updated pad that's supposed to help with it..
Over the weekend I finally got the brakes to cooperate, so it's just about time to get a few test runs in.
2019 civic. Replaced front pads and rotors at 90k miles but only because road salt fucked up rotors which caused the pads to wear unevenly.
I had rears replaced at 40k. At 60k now. I’ve always had a rumbling sound and vibration when breaking from 60-55 mph (around 57) since 40k.
Just got back from the dealer who did an inspection and acknowledged the problem and that it was widespread. However, \"all they can do it tell you whether they're safe or not\". Of course, they're safe but they are also embarassing and, to my wife, anxiety producing thinking that the brakes are about to fail. It's an indictment on the factory that they would allow so many reported issues to go unaddressed, and that they would use ****ty brake pads.
Got mine in November of 2021 and have had the same squealing and grinding issue. Sometimes it's a high-pitched whistle. Going to look at the ceramic brake pads that someone suggested, but its a shame that VW does not address.
