Brake pads OEM Porsche or Hawk Performance
I tried looking at different brands of pads for my 911. Just ended up going with OEM pads. Turns out most people think Porsche OEM is the best stuff and I've learned for many aspects of these cars that is true. This is very different from every other car I owned where you could either get better performance or reduced costs by going aftermarket. With my Porsche I couldn't find a pad that offered better daily driver + some hard driving performance... or was cheaper without sacrificing performance.
I switched to Hawk HP Plus pads all around and I've been extremely happy with them
Also ordered Hawk HPS Brake Pads for all 4 corners as well as some needed new Rotors for the rear.
I have the Hawk Ceramic pads on one of my Porsche's and agree they are great pads, very good pedal feel, no squeal, and no dust.
I could not believe the improved braking performance after switching to Hawk ceramics on my GTI. Honestly it went from mediocre to great.
I bought Hawk HPS pads for my car directly from Hawk if I remember correctly.
I'm no brake expert but definitely don't go stock on the brake pads. I know HAWK is a big name on Performance Brake pads but I have never used them personally. It's just like anything else though, everyone's got their opinion on why brand \"X\" is the best when in reality they are all made in the same factory in China and you are really only paying for the name. I would look for something that says \"High Performance Street\" or similar that's designed to work properly with stock rotors / ABS / Etc.
You might just try a pad upgrade first. I've never been impressed with 16v brakes but I recently tried some Hawk HPS pads and now I can't believe how quickly this car stops. And I'm really picky about things especially brakes.
started w/ oem here, way overcooked them and then changed to hawk hps (no HP+ for the R which was what I liked). Used them last year and cooked the fronts good and used them up, not enough bite for me, but felt a bit better than oem.
I was at the track this weekend and basically, even with the hawk blues, the brakes just don't provide the clamping I need.
