Brake pads R1 Concepts or Centric
R1 concepts were an upgrade on my 2nd gen and got me through 4 years of abuse because the OEM ones would brake fade terribly. On my Camry they only lasted a year.
I put a set of r1 concepts pads and rotors on my wrx that I daily got them off Amazon for like $250 and came in like 2 days had them on for around 7500 miles and haven't had any issues.
If my customers choose aftermarket, I always get
380mm centric high carbon rotors
Centric posi-quiet ceramic brakes.
The centric rotors are the absolute best bang for your buck.
I find paid results in comebacks, and oddly enough I get a lot of comebacks when I use brembo brake pads and rotors (they are 100% a different formulation than the land rover brembo OEM spec)
I have R1 concepts from Amazon, perfect for the car and stopping power.
Centric Premium is my preferred brand, I have used them for years and they don’t warp.
Been running “Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic Brake Pads” since 2020 and nearly zero dust.
Get a set of Centric PQ (posi-quiet) pads and rotors. Way better than any of the big chain brick and mortar store offerings for less $ too
The MK7 R community seems to like Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic Though I had a love-hate relationship on them. Centric claims no bedding was necessary... so, I listened to them and found the lack of braking dangerous. Then, one late night, on an empty highway, I bedded them in with about 10, 70-5 mph medium to hard slow downs, got the rotors heated up and brake pads smelling... then drove on the highway for about half hour, then turned around and went home and let the brakes completely cool. Then I loved the brakes.
I've had Centric pads and rotors on the back (90944519) for 5 years and 40,000 miles. They're ok, but they're much noisier than OEM and tend to grab/groan at very low speed.
After two years or so I get horrible squealing when I stop in reverse. Rusting is pretty bad too.
