I did the raybestos element 3 pads and coated rotors on my 2018 rogue and my wife’s Ford Escape. Very pleased and affordable on Rockauto
I bought raybestos ceramic pads and di it myself for $35. The new pads are quiet and have 30,000 miles on them with no significant wear and about 80% less dust.
I've bought Honda brakes for my 09 Accord several years ago, perfect fit and function. go with name brand, doesn't have to be top tier but OEM is a good starting point. I've just always gone with Raybestos for all my cars
Some prices I don't know how they pull off. I got both front rotors for my Armada for $70. Added Raybestos pad set for $13. I've put around 6000 miles on my new brakes and haven't had a moment of noise or issue.
I just switched to R1 concepts Geomet pads, and drilled and slotted rotors. They're just as good as OEM from what I can tell.
I like them. Used them for 2 years and have a lot of backroads and a couple of track sessions on them. The shims that come with them rattle a lot.
R1 concepts were an upgrade on my 2nd gen and got me through 4 years of abuse because the OEM ones would brake fade terribly. On my Camry they only lasted a year.
I use these pads (and rotors) on my FX35. A couple things I have noticed:
1). There have never been appropriate rattle clips included with any set of pads that I have ever purchased for this car…ever. I am still on OEM stuff at 180k miles. That isn’t just Raybestos. I even ordered Centric hardware…no dice. Not even close. Mind you, I always order model-specific hardware. No idea what the issue is, but it is clearly for the wrong car.
2). These pads take a few stops to heat up, which I kind of expected. I am satisfied with them on my daily, but the rotors are another matter entirely. They all warp within a month or two. That is odd considering they advertise the construction as Dura-Bar. That should be pretty resistant to that kind of thing. They definitely don’t hold up like Centrics do.
3). The shims have a nasty habit of falling off. Not while driving, but during service. You have one maybe two removals before they go MIA.
Other than that, I am not sure that I have noticed an issue with the pads being either wrong or out of tolerance. That is very not what I would expect from a brand like this.
Pros: they fit perfectly, offer great performance and are cool enough to work on immediately after driving. Con: they sent the brakes for the electric parking brake when I have the cable parking brake. They have been 0 help in providing the bracket to adapt it to the cable break.
I installed these less than a year ago on my 4runner. At first, I thought the squealing was going to go away after I broke them in. But almost a year later and they squeal really loud even if I brake slowly at low speeds.
