WAGNER Brake pads

My favorite is Wagner OEX pads. They're build on galvanized steel and the friction material is mechanically attached instead of glued on.

Pros: galvanized steel backing, mechanically attached friction material

The CPO contract goes into effect once I replace the worn brakes (pads and rotors) which can happen anytime- Service Rep said I can do it anytime but preferably soon (end of summer)- the brakes are fine to drive on now though

Pros: brakes can be replaced anytime
Cons: worn brakes need replacement

Wagner OEX or Bosch Quietcast

Both are ceramic brake pads that will last longer. Brake fade is experienced in all brakes used excessively but it takes a lot longer in ceramic pads. The only draw back is stopping distance is slightly increase when cold but when warm it's decreased. Bonus is they produce less dust & its very light in color so your wheels look cleaner.

Pros: longer lasting, less dust
Cons: increased cold stopping distance

A set of euro ceramic pads is about $50, it's just not worth the drama for something so inexpensive right/wrong on VWs part. The DIY is v. simple but even if you pay a shop, it's an hour of labor to get on with your life.

Pros: inexpensive euro ceramic pads, simple DIY
Cons: VW's drama
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Yup, I was very persistent and the dealership covered the cost for new brake pads, and the labor. The rotors were in good shape. Bottom line, i paid nothing. Of course, others experiences may vary. The fact still remains, this was a Volkswagen issue, not a dealership issue, but those two entities are viewed as one, especially when i spent $90,000 with them in a year. I was authorized to spend $282,000 on company vehicles, but once the brakes started acting up, making noise, and the dealer acting like dummies, refusing to take action, I purchased 4 vehicles through a different brand for our sales team company vehicles. Too bad too, I had it all worked out as to how much I would pay for 4 Atlas's, the specs, etc. Because the dealer refused to acknowledge the issue and put it back on me, I didn't want to give them any more of my money. They ended up making it right for me, but not until I took my future business elsewhere.

Pros: dealership covered cost, rotors in good shape
Cons: brakes acting up, making noise
Vehicle: Volkswagen

We recently made this to our caddy Mk1, all home made with help from friends with some skills, total cost, honeslty I dont have any idea haha: Engine is from a 2008 R32 Drivetrain from a 2004 R32 (6-speed manual, also have The DGS setup) Haldex is manually operated so is not and will not workas on the R32, you can drive front wheel drive or 4wheel drive (pushing a button). ECU and engine harness is from an R32 so it works as it should. Front suspension, hubs, etc were upgraded to acommodate Mk3/Scirocco 16v Discs (my dad did some crazy stuff in there but it brakes awesome)

Pros: brakes awesome
Vehicle: Volkswagen Caddy

I don’t have warping or shimmy issues but above 50ish mph when braking I get this loud whirl or hum type of thing. It’s very loud it’s from the rear. I never had this issue on my s3 and it’s the same setup minus the pads. Not sure. I’m thinking of getting golf r or s3 pads and installing them.

Pros: no warping or shimmy
Cons: loud whirl or hum from rear
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 11000 km

Brakes don't squeal, but, at least when they're cold, they seem to grind/shudder/skip (not a warped rotor type of shudder) at low speeds.

Pros: brakes don't squeal
Cons: grind/shudder/skip when cold
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 1500 km

The front brakes have suddenly started vibrating under a heavy load on my Alltrack. The dealer replaced all rotors and pads just before I bought the car. the new brakes have about 6k miles on them.

Cons: vibrating under heavy load
