Clutch kit Exedy or VALEO
I got the Exedy Oem Clutch kit + cast iron flywheel. I have about 2 thousand on the new clutch and it feels great
I replaced mine with the exedy and the lightweight flywheel. I would highly recommend.
Valeo HD 100% is the only option you should consider based on your driving habits. It can hold more power than stock, and won’t cause the annoying rattles a single mass flywheel setup will cause.
Needed a clutch after 100k miles in my 2016… went all-in… Exedy clutch kit, flywheel kit, Subaru slave, Torque Solutions fork and pivot, Subaru rear engine seal and Perrin clutch hose…. 12k miles since & I’m still amazed how much better it feels…
If they make it for your car, the Exedy Stage 1 HD is excellent.
Exedy = OEM, I'd take that over ANY other manufacturers for the platform other than Nismo.
I've been rocking the Exedy kit for about a year now, very happy with it. It's responsive enough where I can have fun, still light but with no chatter. I've driven a 2 stage clutch Z33 before and it was way too heavy for for DD imo. Can't speak on Z1, but I love exedy.
I ordered the exedy OE clutch kit from ftspeed. About to have it installed next week. And although it doesn't have the white paint dot on it, I seen a comparison between the new and old and it looks like the new. The two tabs don't have the cutout in it like the old one does
Springs on the dual mass flywheel failed, tons of play, converting to solid flywheel Valeo clutch kit.
So I went with the OEM clutch manufacturer, Exedy. I purchased what I thought would be an upgraded clutch, the EXEDY 10803AHD Clutch Kit. The dealership installed the new clutch without issue and without addition labor charge at that time. That was less than 10k miles ago. The dealer finishes the inspection and informs me that the clutch its self has failed. I called Exedy and talked with a technician. After explaining the situation and providing him the part number for the clutch, he promptly informed me that they no longer recommend that clutch to RX8 owners, only FC RX7 owners. Within the last three months they discovered that the tolerances were off by 1 or 2mm, causing premature failure. The kicker is that I didn't originally buy the wrong clutch. It was one they recommended for the 8 at the time I purchased it. Even though they agree with that statement, they refused to do anything for me with this issue its caused. Absolutely zero. Its just absolutely shocking to me that a well known company like them would operate that way.
