Control arm Tesla or MEYLE
I rebuilt my E46 suspension with Meyle HD control arms and they use ball joints at least as good if not better than ZHP ones.
I've put some Meyle control arms on a friend's BMW and they seemed pretty good, and I also fitted Meyle droplinks on mine, so they're probably fine for the upper wishbones.
I purchased from Ecstuning and elected to replace the whole control arm instead of just the bushings which I hear is a very tedious job. I went with the meyle lower control arms because a pair was as much as one of the oem. It is supposed to be more reinforced and heavy duty compared to the oem.
I fitted a couple of Meyle control arms on a friend's BMW a few months ago and was impressed with them, particularly for the price, they came with replaceable ball joints too.
I still like the original bushing and not the solid one. I like the idea of having my control arm play well for the up and down motion thus making the car ride better (kudos to vw engineers). my original bushing lasted around 8 years (not bad) and by that time I could hear some squeaky sound (no more squeak now) so I replaced it with the same type of bushing but not the expensive vw part.
I got just the upper Meyle HD control arms from FCP when I replaced my front shocks and they are good quality.
I bought Meyle HD lower control arms, they seem to be ok quality wise. Clean welds, thick paint so should resist corrosion pretty well. They come with reinforced ball joints and both bushings in place.
2014 Model S P85D control arm broke while driving home. Tesla repair center won't work on it and claim that it was in an accident and to go through insurance. The vehicle has not been in an accident since I've owned it.
