Dash cam VIOFO or BLACKVUE
I just went through this process of trying to find one. I ended up with the VIOFO A229 Pro w/ back camera and has the ability to add an interior cam. It's likely to last several years and the components wshould hold up against future competition, top tier video quality, lots of features. Price and size. It's big compared to the compact models but I don't see it at all from the driver's side. It's not ignorable from the passenger side. For a smaller form, I'd go with the VIOFO Mini 2. High quality compact size, but it doesn't have a 2nd channel for a rear camera.

I got viofo a229 plus which covers front and back and I’m very happy with it. You plug it into the socket and keep it that way. You need to install a compatible microsd card - either from viofo or a reputable one like sandisk. Depending how handy you are you can tuck in the cables leading to the back camera, and they’ll be hidden in your interior panels. Otherwise it is easy to install and comes with everything you need.

VIOFO a119 mini 2 for front view only or VIOFO A129/229 for front and back view buy on Black Friday cyber Monday Buy a Sandisk extreme or endurance 256gb card for it. You can use plug it in usb or cigarette lighter plug but I would recommend hard wiring using fuse taps to fuse box guru electronics car audio will install it for 120$ front view only ask for front and back view price if you get the A129. Everyone should have a dash cam if you get in a accident the other driver will say it’s your fault and it will go 50/50 fault and your insurance will drop you or increase your rates by a lot. If you cause injury in an accident they are going to sue you and could garnish your wages.For VIOFO cameras put time loop to 2 minutes and practice downloading video to your phone using VIOFO app and format(deleting storage) once a month VIOFO app is really good you download the app on your phone press the WiFi button on dashcam connect your phone to dash cam WiFi then go into app and you can just settings and go threw videos and download videos on your phone I hardwired my own to my fuse box using fuse taps and a automotive fuse tester using Chrisfixs YouTube video on how to install dashcam, by the time a bought a fuse tester 10$ fuse taps 25$ a dedicated crimping tool 20$ I should have just paid guru car stereo to due it…

I'm currently using a Viofo VS1 as is unobtrusive and at a good price point for the spec.

Expensive and has a pay monthly sim but its great.
Good picture quality day and night, front and rear, hardwired, impact and motion recording.
It automatically records during journeys and condenses it into 1 or 2 min chunks.
They get uploaded to an app you can watch and download.
Pros: good picture quality, easy recording

I wanted it to work well at night. The best sensor is currently the Sony starvis so I wanted one with that. And I wanted 4k. And I wanted multiple cameras.
So that basically left one decent option. The VIOFO. It’s been very good indeed.

Viofo A229 Pro is brilliant. You can optionally add a rear camera, or in car camera, or even a telephoto (so you can make out plates easily if someone makes off).

I have a Viofo a229 Duo in mine. It looks okay.
