Engine oil AMSOIL or OEM Volkswagen
I bought a 153K kilometer 81 1.6 GTI and drove it for work to military bases all over Germany. With no restrictions I ran 160-190 kph as much as possible for a few hours at a time. It always used a little oil but I kept it changed with 20W50 dino oil and sold it at 280K still running fine.
Switched to Amsoil awhile back and have no regrets.
Amsoil Signature series 5w30 is one of the best oils you can get that meets the oil specifications
36k miles and still not burning a drop between 10k OCI's. I use VW 0W-20 Full Syn 508/509 spec each and every time, until mobil1 releases a Full Syn clone. Noticed a "slight" increase in MPG's with the newer oil.
If you want oil that has zinc, close to the oe oil weight, and is really good I'd go with ams oil, it is expensive but after 3k miles mine is still really clean
I have been using AMSoil for years and did the once a year/25k miles oil change for years and and my engines have had zero issues.
If you only daily and don't run hot, hard, or do lots of WOTs; then just use Honda or other quality oil that you are comfortable with. If you push it harder and want to spend money, use something better like Amsoil Signature (my choice), Royal Purple, or Motul.
I run Amsoil signature blend and filters. Expensive but I believe in it.
I only use amsoil in my gti...would never use n e thing else in my car
I’ve personally ran amsoil in all of my vehicles, and haven’t been disappointed
