Engine oil Castrol or Eneos
I use Castrol as it’s the OEM product and is cheap if you buy direct from Ford.
My more modern VW runs Castrol EDGE OE 5W-40 full synthetic. That's what my VW dealer in Utah fills cars with.
I use Castrol EDGE Supercar 5w50. Oil change 7000km ????. no problems! Mileage 150 000km . Car from 2014!!
Been using Eneos & changing it every 4k miles/4 months. Congrats on the WRX
300.000km - oil: Castrol Edge 5W-30 and a new vortex breather - without oil consumption
315.000km - oil: fuchs titan 5W-30 and the old vortex breather - around 1L oil consumption
330.000km - oil: mannol 5W-30 and the old vortex breather - around 1L oil consumption
345.000km - oil: eneos 5W-30 and a filter type breather - without oil consumption
There is no “break-in oil” just ENEOS brand 0W-20. KIA and ENEOS have a partnership and the factory oil fill is this oil
I have been told the same by Blackstone on my cars, though I still do it once a year given the cost is <$75. However, I do follow their advice on intervals, after once being a 5,000 mile interval guy. On all three of our cars, using Castrol Edge 5W-20, I've repeatedly gotten analysis that tells me that, at 7,500-10,000 miles, the oil is still performing as intended.
I've had good luck with Castrol for several years in two WRXs.
Castrol Power 1 isn't a bad oil, but I'd say not the best either. I have only used LiquiMoly as an alternative, so far and I rate is better than the Castrol but it did cost almost 2x as much too.
I will never use castrol again, stupid dark bottle is annoying and makes it hard to tell how much is left
