Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or MOTUL
Motul is cheaper than Petronas and it's a very good oil.
Liquimoly leichtlauf 5w40. Been told it’s a bit better than 5w30 in a 20+ year old engine due to being a bit thicker. Also does better at higher temps and I drive like a dick
Best oil for me is Motul 8100 X-Clean 5W-40 C3, or Liquil Moly. 5W-40 because I got more hot climate here (Greece).
Liqui Moly leichtlauf hightech 5w40. Because it matches the BMW LL-01 specification and was formulated to help with the sticky piston rings issue common to many german engines. Noticed lower oil temp under load and a gradual reduction of oil consumption
I run LM 5w-40 as recommended by my tuner.
I just do the liqui moly. Also I change my oil well before the BMW recommended 10k.
I would recommend Motul.
I’ve got Motul Sport 5W30 for my MY12 XV, which ain’t a turbo ofcourse????
But next time I’ll go for sport 5W40, as it’s better for long driving in temperatures like 30(+) degrees Celsius outside.
The Sport range is by the way also good again low speed pre-ignition.
I am currently using Motul X clean EFE 5w30 using it because it was Tuner/shop recommended by Dmann/Felix Performance who did change for me prior to a tune/dyno and I haven't switched back.
I often go for liquymoly or Motul 4t 10-w40 fully synthetic oil for my big machine.
The most notable change between the Gen1 and Gen 2 is viscosity. It is much thinner than old oil. few of my customers have already noticed higher oil consumption compared to old formulation. Liqui Moly has done the same. They have reformulated their popular Leichtlauf 5W40 to much lower viscosity. @ 100C it is almost as thin as 5W30.
