Engine oil Mobil or OEM Honda
2016 stock WRX here. 6k OCI's using Subaru filters and Mobil 1 5w-30 EP oil backed up by oil analysis. 90k miles presently.
After some digging through some bimmer forums i saw people say viscosity is less of a factor than ensuring it's LL compatible. So the closest visosity i found in store was 5w-30 and i chose mobil 1 euro spec that was Ll-01 compatible.
I put Mobil1 high mileage full synthetic 5w-30 in both my car and my wife’s. The same gets put in the snowblower and lawn mower. It’s been that way for years and they both cut the grass and throw the snow from -30F to 100F weather just fine.
I would trust a 0W-20 in a Toyota or Honda. After all, Honda and Idemitsu invented 0W-20, while Toyota worked with Idemitsu on 0W-8. I’ll reluctantly use it in a Subaru(and it must be Mobil 1 ESP X2 or Castrol Edge gold bottle with Mercedes/BMW/VW and/or GM dexosD/dexos2 approvals) but switch over to a ILSAC or Euro 5W-30 once warranty is up.
I like Mobil 1 0w-40, has more zddp than most others.
I’ve been using mobile 1 European blend for over 100k miles, works great.
0-40 M1 Euro. Stage 1.
It was the cheapest I could fine locally. I was looking for Penzoil 5-40, but could not find the Platium Euro I was looking for at the time. The M1 is known to be on the thinner side, and I am in Cali so that works. It is also known to keep things super clean inside the motor.
stick with vw 508/509. Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w-20 is like $27 at walmart and is 508/509.... Also, 508/509 has a tracer in it so if you need engine warranty work and they drain the oil, they'll be able to tell.
MOBIL 1 every 5k miles. Not the worst or the best oill
Mechanic put in mobil1 FS 0w-40. Car went into limp mode exactly at end of trip. engine was running rough and would not go above 40mph. Engine light was on. MB dealership denied warranty for an exhaust issue, stating the Mobil 1 oil (mb229.5) did not meet their required specification (mb229.51).
