Engine oil OEM Mazda or RED LINE
I use Mazdas 5w-30 Ultra DPF. Mazda once said that this was the oil that they're using, so I guess what's used by mazda can't be too bad for the rex
I’ve used Motul, LiquiMoly, Molygen, and Redline 5w40. Oil analysis was best with the Redline, but it’s pricey…although worth the better numbers IMO.
I use Redline 5w-40 because I noticed my engine burns a quart every 2000miles using other brands or thinner grades. With RedLine there is barely any consumption.
I run Red Line oils in my H-Ds and Indian.
Get the Redline 5W-30…you won’t be disappointed. I was floored by how much better my Z performed with this oil. I’ll never use anything else.
I have the 6.4 liter Hemi in my Charger, and I switched from Ultra Platinum to Redline. My car uses 0w 40, but nonetheless, I have not seen or felt any difference between the 2. If you are worried about switching, I can assure you that Redline is a very high quality oil.
I am running Redline 0w-30 during the warmer months. It was the most reasonably priced group 5 ester base (with great reviews) that I could find. Oil temps during my last autoX event were down 15 degrees F, compared to a similar day with the factory recommended 0w-20.
My 07 Passat has 236k. I change oil every 5k, cam follower every 70-100k (20k is serious overkill), lots of coil pack changes (like 4 or 5), and that is about it.
For the record, this is NOT the exact replacement to Mazda 0W-20 GF-5 with Moly - Synthetic Engine Oil.
While this has high molybdenum, it's still a different formula from Mazda's own proprietary blend.
I've tested both those oils, and was not impressed with the results. Both oils still needed changing at 5k.
