Engine oil PENNZOIL or OEM Mazda
I personally like using pennzoil euro platinum 5w-40 in my Mk7.
I've run Pennzoil Ultra in 5W-30 for the past 4 years and never had a problem.
I bought a Mazda CX-5 dealer test car with 300 Km's on it back in 2015 when I moved up to Osaka. I drive a LOT and was getting the oil changed roughly every 5000 km's per Mazda's recommendation.
Some 5w-40 can be quite thick in cold. The 0w-30 here is German Syntec, and trust me it's the same visc curve as 0w-40. As you see, 5w-40 is 3-4x thicker in cold than jug 5w-30
I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20, and follow a 5K miles/6 months time change schedule. (It’s twice as often as is recommended but that’s just my personal preference on how often I change it, not indicative of oil quality or use parameters.)
Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-30
Pennzoil ultra platinum. It is what they put in it from factory and it is one of the best oils around next to amsoil for a lot less money.
I know this is old, so you’ve probably already made your decision, but I use Pennzoil Platinum. It’s a great oil as well and tends to be slightly cheaper than the Amsoil.
I use Mazda's weight recommendation for my environment, as illustrated in your owners manual. I use 10W-30 and 15W-40 Full-Synthetic oils with zinc additives to stave off carbon deposits.
That's what I run. It supposedly runs lighter than the specified 40. It's LL-01 approved. I change it every 8000km/5000miles.
