MOTUL Engine oil
WILLCCU
Rating 4.0
  • Engine noise:

Now I won’t say it felt faster, but it does seem smoother for some reason. Maybe I’m trying to justify $22.50 per quart.

Pros: seems smoother
Cons: expensive per quart
Vehicle: Volkswagen

MOTUL Engine oil

That's motul 300v, a high quality race oil that I use in my tuono. It's quite pricey but has a garish green colour. The smell of fuel is quite normal after a few thousand miles, if you had excess fuel in the oil it would be a much thinner consistency.

Pros: high quality
Cons: quite pricey

MOTUL Engine oil

Motul 300V is a green oil designed for racing bikes, but some people put it in street bikes. I used to use it in my SV650 because it helped it to shift smoother.

Pros: shift smoother
Vehicle: Honda

MOTUL Engine oil

I recently ordered my 5W-40 Motul 8100 X-cess oil for my 2016 Golf R and the label changed and it now says "gen 2" on the front. It appears the first version of this will remain available for some time but Gen 2 is backwards compatible and still VW 502 spec and is safe to use but this version specifically addresses euro 5 / Euro 6 emissions on newer low displacement, forced induction vehicles that are putting down high horsepower so this oil is an improvement for the EA888

Pros: improvement for the EA888

MOTUL Engine oil

Motul, however, recently reformulated their flagship oil, 8100 X-cess 5W40, to a Gen2 version that‘s reformulated to keep the BMW LL-01 certification. It also has Porsche A40, Mercedes-Benz 229.5 & 226.5, and VW 502 00/505 00 approvals. Compared to the Leichtlauf, it also has greater oil film strength (HTHS) and a higher viscosity index that will give better performance, durability, and longevity over a full oil change interval.

Pros: better performance, durability, longevity
